Okay here goes...this is a whole new ball game for me; attempting to share my real world through words, rather than my imagined world created in paint. I hope that what I have to say enriches what I offer on my canvasses; but if not, at least I am chatting with friends. I have eased into the process on instagram, which has proven to steal vast swathes of time as I peruse some wonderfully generous posts...it seems like becoming addicted to a television series.
The start of 2016 was a challenge for me. It felt strange working in the studio through January. Usually I'm still taking time out with my children for the duration of the school holidays; so grateful to be able to do this all these years. But their young adult lives took them back to the city this year. So first I gave the studio a big clean. I generally work like stink to meet Christmas deadlines, then abandon my workplace completely at the start of the summer holidays. The mess awaits. So a good tidy up is a rewarding way to ease back into the intimacy and solitude of this private space, and become familiar once again with the process of making art. So here we begin a new year of paint.
I look forward to sharing it with you.
Happy greetings from the studio,
Robyn
